The world's biggest Peace Drum (Taiping gu) and Gong will make their debut in Hong Kong in mid-July to synergize the city, with some 2,000 drummers to win a place in the Guinness Book of Records, said the Leisure & Cultural Services Department (LCSD) on Saturday.

Organized by the LCSD and the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, the event, to be held on July 13, is part of the three-month Hong KongDrum Festival which aims to boost spirits with heartening drum sounds.

Meanwhile, the LCSD will also launch a number of major sportingprogram in conjunction with the campaign to relaunch Hong Kong.

Martial arts monks from the Songshan Shaolin Temple of central China, whose feats of strength and agility verge on the superhuman,will give four kung fu shows from July 5 to July 7.
