Ancient Murals Restored

Precious ancient mural paintings in Shaolin Temple, the martial art shrine in central China's Henan Province have recently been restored.

The content of the paintings ranges from portraits of five hundred Buddhist saints, known as arhats, to illustrations of Shaolin boxing. The restoration project was launched in February last year by the research institute of Dunhuang, which is also known for its unique cave paintings.
